Muse

$3,000.00

Oil on Canvas (2025)
Artwork Size: 90 x 150 cm

“Muse” (2025) is the centrepiece and conceptual foundation for the body of work Ruby Zizania created during her 6 month ‘Level Up’ Residency at Mint Art House ending in early 2025.

This mini collection speaks to an intrinsically magical journey of healing, storytelling and empowerment and expresses her unique identity as an artist.

The painting “Muse” represents this journey, as a play of light surrounding and enlivening the nude as self-portrait, uniting her with the serpent as a rousing and affirming symbol of transformational self-authorship.
The snake, A classical symbol of transition and rebirth, which in the Mythos, is considered a message from the Gods. Over a period of months, she was frequently walking into all the different snakes on her property, and having recurring visions of snakes following her in her dreams. Ruby Zizania treasured moments of stillness and adoration with one of the pythons that lives sleeping in the trees around her house in the sun. These occurrences all came to a stop when she finally started the body of work during her Residency at Mint House House – once she had received the message.

Ruby hopes her message of healing will be as powerful, magical and divine for those viewing “Muse” as it has been for her receiving, transmuting and transmitting it into the world. “May it live and breathe as my Mythos; my authentic self; my
Muse” – Ruby Zizania.
